We hope those of you who participated at the weekend in the adidas Silverstone Half Marathon put in a good performance and, if you were using the race as a warm-up event for the Virgin London Marathon, you are now full of confidence for the final few weeks of training. | Aviva Series Competition |
| Last month we asked if you knew the number of events that make up the heptathlon to win a pair of tickets to a Grand Prix event. We were able to get our hands on five pairs of tickets and the first five out scooped a pair of tickets each. Our winners Averil Hewitt, James Ellis, Sarah Clark and Sherry Newton all opted for a pair of ticket for Crystal Palace, while Chris Potter chose to attend the Birmingham event. Well done and have fun! |

| Sheffield – a hotbed for running |
Good things seem to be happening in Sheffield these days! Accelerate are a running specialist store in the city. They recently hosted an evening where they thrashed out the arguments for and against barefoot running that seem to have bubbled up more since the release of Christopher McDougall's Born to Run.
Then last weekend the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival hosted a special screening of some of the year's best running films, followed by a lecture by Peak District fell-runner, Stephen Pyke. |

| Is winter behind us yet? |
Have you noticed the mornings and evenings are lighter and the dawn chorus starts before you wake up? Soon we will be looking forward to warmer weather and running in shorts. Two runbritain friends who have already been doing that sent us their blogs from overseas. Kay Farrow is the press secretary for Beverley AC but currently residing in Mauritius. She sent us this report. Lee Merrien, who usually lives on the small Channel Island of Guernsey sent us this blog from Iten, Kenya where he is almost at the end of a stay at the UKA/London Marathon Training Camp. |
